I chose my blog handle because it will be easiest for me to remember and is very recognizable. It is also the beginning of my e-mail address and because my name is very common, will differentiate me from other with the same name.
I have almost finished my major, which is Justice Studies. Throughout my student career, I have also found a passion for Religious Studies and Political Science, which are my two minors. This is my fourth and final year (hopefully) at ASU.
I chose this class because of several reasons. Firstly, I chose this class because of the relevancy of the issues faced in this course and its reflection on society at large. Secondly, because being female and on the brink of being thrust into the real world, I am about to face many of the justice issues discussed in this course. Thirdly, of course, it will help me to complete my major.
I think that women, work and justice issues refer to the way working women are addressed in society. Working women’s involvement and move from the household to the working world has been a long battle and has caused many shifts in societal functions. Also I would like to see how improvements can be made it accommodate women in the work place as well as how inequalities can best be addressed. To me, a just society would not necessarily even be a completely fair society, just an accommodating one in which women and minorities would have the same opportunities as others, according to their needs.
Women are prime suspects in having injustices occur in their lives. This may have to do with the established outside of the workplace requirements or just notions of what is expected of a woman and her working abilities.
Injustices will always exist; to me it is just a matter of trying ones best to lower the risk of these injustices occurring. It is also about realizing when in fact it is actually happening and taking preventative measures accordingly.
